first time i decided to try growing for the first time was a complete disaster. I thought I had an idea of what I was doing but it turns out not really. For one thing my setup was all janked and confusing. I remember my light was off center and I figured it wouldn't be a problem so my stocks were all messed up. I didn't know anything about light cycles so I just kinda left the light on during the day and turned it off during the night. didn't know too much about water nutrients or ph levels as I was just a stoner high school kid looking to grow so I could sell it. After a while I pretty much just gave up on it as the plants were completely ruined and didn't yield anything at all.
Until I actually started studying and looking to grow as a hobby and not just a means to an end, I realized how rewarding the whole experience could be. i stopped thinking about doing things as quickly as possible and started taking things slow and really enjoying the worth that goes into accomplishing the whole project. Plus I learned a s**t load of plants and it's all pretty interesting at the end of the day. Moral of the story is if you're going to do something, take the care to do it right and do it because you want to above anything else.
